Coaching News

Fauldsport are winners

Top Caterham race team Fauldsport clinched the Superlight R300 Team Championship title. I am responsible for coaching all their drivers including 2011 Superlight champion Jamie Orton. Jamie has strong connections in motorsport so no one person can claim to coach him but we all play our part to focus his very real talent. For the first time since the R300 Championship started Jamie and past client Paul Wilson set a clear new standard of focused consistency for the rest to follow.

Paul Brannan finished an impressive if frustrating for him 4th after a very tough season started with a serious sports injury to his left hand and then as that healed a move from the UK to the USA for work. Without these hindrances I’m confident Paul would have had a more consistent season.

Equally as impressive as Jamie Orton’s outstanding championship winning performance has to be that of London based Adam Balon, who in only his 2nd ever season of motor racing moved from the very back of the grid in 2010 to snapping at podium finishes by season end with a best result of 4th. To see how comfortably in control and focused Adam looks racing at the very sharp end this early in his racing is very simply why I do this for a living.

JJ O’Malley had a very mixed season. JJ’s pace is never in question, with some outstanding turns of speed sometimes from nowhere. JJ came close to winning at Brands Hatch and was always the man to watch in any pack. Unfortunately for JJ a couple engine issues and few crashes held him back from a consistent challenge but there is no doubt this racer has the eye of the tiger!
