Spa test went well

I am just back from Spa after a first practice with Andrew Derodra and his Juno CN racer at Spa. The weekend went really well, Andrew learnt loads and most importantly has gained allot of confidence with his amazing car.

For my part the two days was great practice allowing me to learn allot about this very different driving approach relying on aero and mechanical grip beyond compromise. There’s no settling or balancing the car in the normal way applicable to GT or Saloon car driving, its is a bit like a computer game with a large fan blowing air at your head and just shy of 1.7G thrown in through corners to make sure one stays honest! The approach is generally to forget about feel for the car going into corners, instead relying on trust and forward vision.

Thankfully the cars structural integrity is second to none and with young Richard from Juno on hand, trusting was left purely down to me breaking 20 years balancing a car into corners in a car that actually doesn’t need it.

Working with Andrew and Richard was a great pleasure, its just a shame our schedules and budgets don’t run into doing more races than Donington on the 18th April.
